UPS gets government approval to become a drone airline

DALLAS — UPS says it won government approval to run a drone airline, and it plans to expand deliveries on hospital campuses and eventually other industries.United Parcel Service Inc. said Tuesday that its drone subsidiary was awarded an airline certificate last week by the Federal Aviation Administration.Even before getting the airline designation, UPS Flight Forward, as the subsidiary is called, has operated more than 1,000 flights at Wake Forest University’s medical centre in Raleigh, North Carolina.Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao calls the airline designation a step forward in integrating drones into the U.S. airspace, according to a statement released by the company.David Koenig, The Associated Press read more

Angola UN envoy holds talks on recent ceasefire agreement with UNITA

UN Under Secretary-General Ibrahim Gambari, who is Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Special Adviser for Africa, told journalists that the main objectives of his mission to Luanda were to deliver a message from Mr. Annan to President dos Santos and to witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding that had brought about the ceasefire.Mr. Gambari added that he also intended to consult all parties involved in the peace process and clarify the role of the UN, and encourage all the positive developments and make peace “irreversible.”Gen.
